Hi Guys,

I've created a form and need to know how to capture the information (e-mail form will do for the moment). I'm using dreamweaver.
I've done the mailto: command with a valid e-mail address and also selected post in the action field but I do not know what to do from here.

I want to display a message that says thanks for your comments and also, obviously, receive the data.

Is there a good website which has a step by step guide to this stuff? as you can tell, i'm very new to this but all feedback would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Thanks for your reply, I'm still confused though, the website is a basic frames / html website.

I wouldn't know where to start with php, I thought there would be a really simple solution for this !

I would recommend CGI .... It is a very basic script that is used frequently when someone does not use php or another "server-side" program.... contact your website administration and see what their format is for rendering a CGI script on their server. If you do not want to do that, I could help you with the PHP way to do this as well. Both are pretty simple

CGI is not a script.

"Rendering a CGI script?" "Format?"

A CGI script is any program which runs on the server side, accepting input (such as POST and GET variables) and producing output which is sent to the browser. CGI is not a script, and there is no specific "format" for CGI scripts. They can be written in any language that supports reading from STDIN and writing to STDOUT.

Thanks for your replies. Server side people are going to get back to me on this one
