Q.Table cells, change bgcolor with mouseover?

Hi,

I have created a menu in a table, using each cell for a different link.

How can I get the background colour of the cell to change when the mouse passes over the cell?

PS. I have considered using two interchangeable images in the cell, the using some sort of mouseover script to change the images. but I really want to avoid the use of images.
