View Full Version : Is there a decent, cross-browser way of finding the height in pixels of an element
... even if the element's height has been specified as a percentage or "auto?"

I did find this experiment, although I can't decide what he is really trying to do:
http://www.quirksmode.org/js/doctypes.html
also there is this forum where someone asked the same question:
http://www.thescripts.com/forum/thread95629.html
although these people don't seem so happy to be there. :p
And then I found this one about div height... perhaps with a little magic you can customize it?

Aha -- offsetHeight was what I was looking for, I believe. Thanks :)

Holy Crap! You mean I actually helped someone... nevermind it is an almighty "Mad Prof" such as Twey...
LMAO Twey... dose of own medicine... Google is your friend (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=find+height+of+elements&btnG=Search)
:D LMAO!
Sorry I couldn't help it...
Haha :D
Of course I looked. But in fairness to me, it was 1:18AM. :p

Noted. LOL I have had MANY days like that...
I 'specially hate when I do some 36 to 76 hour coding stretches in Flash and get everything perfect and find it doesn't work... only to spend another 40 hours figuring out I missed a colon in one spot :P
LOL
