Question about Buying a Domain Name

Hi,

I just tried to buy a domain name and unfortunatley is was already taken but when i viewed the WHOIS information i noticed the following:-

Registration status:
Renewal required.
*** This registration has been SUSPENDED. ***

What does that mean?

Clearly, they haven't paid a bill.

But... they probably still have the right to renew it, before you'd have the right to buy it.
You could try checking with their hosting company, or just wait and hope they don't pay.

Not sure what's going on, but it seems that's all there is to it... for now.

The domain name won't be released until one year after it has been suspended. You could have a long wait ahead of you. There are services that will watch a domain name for you and buy it as soon as it becomes available.

Yeah, I've heard of the preordering thing. Might make sense to do that, if you really want the domain (and can wait.)

So, Twey, the suspension thing is standard, not just setup by the particular hosting company? That's what I wasn't sure about.
