Hit counter

I received a PDF document (several pages long) for a record of a hit counter.
I couldn't open it. I got the message that the root object was missing or invalid. I have the lastest updates for Adobe installed.

There is nothing on Adobe's site about this. Can anyone help me?

How was the PDF recieved? Was it on a FTP? Email attachment? Was is compressed (zipped)?
