Script: Pausing RSS Scroller
http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/rsspausescroller/index.htm

First I want to say, I riffeled through many pages on this forum, and I think the experts here are troopers.

Okay its just not working. I have checked, checked, and re-checked and its not pulling feeds. Let me show you the page, and outline my strange directory tree.

www.fanfaregames.com/generic_templates/index.php

The structure looks like this:

root/generic_templates/index.php
root/global/scripts/lastRSS.php
root/global/scripts/rsspausescroller.js
root/global/scripts/scrollerbridge.php
root/global/scripts/cache/ (777)

Theres not much more to say. I'm stuck. Any idea why this is?

Thanks

Umm, feeling kind of passed over. Been reading the other threads to try to fix it myself, but still not working. I'd be willing to make a donation to get this working.

var bridgepath="scrollerbridge.php"The path is relative to the page the script is included on, not the script itself. So that should be "../global/scripts/scrollerbridge.php".

Send your money to the Cats' Protection League (http://www.cats.org.uk), if you will.

Hello,

I had the same problem today. What i figured out is that this message is dispayed when there is a URL in your array list that either is not valid rss or it doesn not exist.

The problem is that all RSS feeds in the page will display the error message.

Has anyone came up with a fix for this? i.e. When an invalid url is used to fail only the affected RSS feed, instead of all.

I get the same error.

It works fine for cnn but on bbc I get the "gave up" message. The specific feed I wanted to use is also giving the same issue.

Essentially:

"cnn" => "http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_topstories.rss", //Cool
"bbc" => "http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_uk_edition/front_page/rss.xml", //Uncool

Help!!
