I am not deeply Geek enough to fully understand what is going on here
http://www.security.nnov.ru/Mdocument772.html
All I know is that my wife's computer locks up when she goes to a page with Java code running, and tons of visitors on my site have the same problem as well. (Not with my site, I don't run Java ;) )
Because of this I haven't done any updates on my PC and it all runs fine...
What is your take?
Shouldn't ever occur... the key code,
while(true) { Object[] oarr = {o}; o = oarr; }is not something you're ever going to find in the average applet, even in a harder-to-spot form. I think the author would have to be incredibly unlucky (and a pretty bad coder) or to have crafted the applet specially to cause this effect. It certainly shouldn't happen with any page with an applet on.
It's interesting to note how much attention Sun pay to customer feedback, but I don't think this is related to your problem.

So what could be the cause/fix of my problem?
I mean, it is not just MY problem, as I have heard complaints from well over 100 people in almost every country of the world...
Same thing, Java page, browser locks up and must shut down, this is IE, but also FF and Konq.
Not Safari, that I know of, but Mac is only about 1% of my player base.
It is just weird.
Does this happen in Linux as well? It would be much easier to debug there.

Not 100%.. but with it affecting Konquerer I am taking a guess and saying yes.
Other than that I am not sure, no one has stated their OS when posting about the problem, and I haven't asked.

Well, start your browser from the terminal and post the output when it dies.

You should suggest to someone that they could save all those licensing fees.

I have tried... but to no avail... I work for a Native American Tribe, so most of it is "given" by the government anyway... they don't seem to care, and the IT guy just does as he is told by the tribal council.
(shudder) is right... this place runs like a one winged duck with a bladder control problem.

I wouldn't call it "running" but that about sums it up, yes, LOL

I can't reproduce the problem on my *Nix box, (wonder if Linux has a fix already?)
I will ask around my forum members and see if the *Nix users can get the error...
Are you using the same version of Java on both operating systems?
