media=print works with Word 2003 or XP?

I've inherited a web site where the author used: <link rel="alternate" media="print" href="whatever.doc">. He may have found the idea from: http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex9/printstyle.htm . It's not friendly with browsers other than IE. But it now appears that it doesn't work with IE if the version of Word is 2003 or XP. With other browsers they at least print the web page, with IE I am only getting a blank page. Can anyone confirm this for me?

The best way to make a printpage is to use 2 different css files. one with the media set to screen (this is the css for viewing) the other set to print (for printing). This way. you keep your website small, and the downloadtime short because the people already have the webpage
