I am making a Mock-up iPod look-alike media player and I need some help with the scrolling of the titles.
In the iPod O.S. when the name of something is too long, it shows as much as it can, and scrolls ALL the way to the left, then the sentence shows up again.
If you are fimiliar with the iPod UI, you know what I am talking about.
I need a script, or at least help with a script, that shows the text, then scrolls left until the text is not showing, then resets the text at the beginning and does it again.
THANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO RESPONDS.

I am making a mock os in a web page, when you manage to complete your task, please contact me. It would be very helpful. It is not hosted on the internet (shame) so you cant preview it.

just use any scrolling script, then add spaces to space it out... easy, right?
I'm sure there are other ways, but that's easy enough.

I tried the same thing once with a chat thing... I was copying AIM, at least to start, but it was mostly just to see what I could do.
this was a while ago, so needless to say, I failed... but it was interesting.
I think it's possible... but just quite complex.
In the end, flash might just be a better option. More secure, too.

Any scrolling thing might work, but I demand HIGH preformance.
It needs to APPEAR, then scroll left, untill it is fully gone. Then REAPPEAR. Spacing it isn't going to cut it, and I don't believe it needs to go to flash, although overall that would be the best idea. I just a need a simple code, to make it do as i have mentioned above. Thanks.
I would be interested in the mock-up OS, but which one? Xp? If so, what are you trying to make it do? Like a fully functional look-alike? PM me.

Nah, I wasn't saying flash for just this. I just meant in general, to code an "application" based in a webpage, you can more easily have dynamic or interactive things, as well as media, by using flash.
I'm not really a big fan of it, but this is a case where it's useful.
If you're gonna make an OS, please don't copy an existing one. XP isn't that fun or anything. Mac might be cool, but it's so animation/graphic based, you would NEED to do flash.
In the end, just do a mock up with the same general functionality... that would be fun.
As for a marquee, there are VERY simple ways with setting some property to "marquee".... but I can't remember where, sorry.
But.. that won't do it anyway.
Look around the text scripts on DD, and check out the scrolling ones. They might help.
Sounds to me like you need a couple different javascript functions.... appear, pause, scroll, when gone pause, reappear.... etc.

"I would be interested in the mock-up OS, but which one? Xp? If so, what are you trying to make it do? Like a fully functional look-alike?"
It did start with xp, but this was boring after a while, so I changed the graphics, then changed the whole coding of the desktop.
The result is now in a hta, which can now enable read/write access to the computer that it is run on.
I could start on a mock mac, but i would need plenty of screenshots, because i dont have a mac.
p.s. I need help on re-writing the dthml window script, so that i could have more than one window open at a time. This would also include writing an object to the equivelent of the task bar.
