The file can contain any HTML/ Script code, such as links, JavaScript codes etc. By including the scriplet in multiple pages, one change to this file means the change is instanly reflected on all the pages containing the scriptlet. What a time saver! Browsers other than IE 4 and above will simply see nothing.
